Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about epoxy garage floor coating — cost, prep, materials, and what to expect.

How long does epoxy garage floor coating last?
A properly installed polyaspartic/polyurea system with MVB primer and diamond grinding typically lasts 15–20+ years in North Texas. Budget systems without proper prep often fail in 2–5 years. The prep work — especially diamond grinding and moisture vapor barrier primer — is the biggest factor in longevity.
What is diamond grinding and why does it matter?
Diamond grinding mechanically abrades the concrete surface using diamond-tipped discs, opening the pores so coating can bond into the slab rather than just sitting on top. It's the only prep method that consistently produces a proper surface profile for long-term adhesion. Acid wash etching, a common alternative, is less reliable and doesn't work on sealed or previously coated slabs. Read the full explanation →
What is MVB primer and do I need it?
MVB (Moisture Vapor Barrier) primer is a specialized sealer applied after diamond grinding that blocks moisture vapor from migrating up through the slab. In North Texas, clay soil expands and contracts with rain, pushing moisture through concrete slabs. Without MVB, that moisture vapor can lift coating from the bottom — causing bubbling and delamination. Most contractors skip it to save money. We include it in our Pro and Flagship packages because North Texas slabs need it. Read more →
What's the difference between epoxy and polyaspartic?
Epoxy is a two-part coating (resin + hardener) known for durability, but it yellows under UV exposure and is brittle in large temperature swings. Polyaspartic is a newer coating that's UV-stable, more flexible in temperature changes, and cures faster. We use polyaspartic as the topcoat on all our packages because of DFW's harsh sun and temperature extremes. Full comparison →
How much does epoxy garage floor coating cost in DFW?
For a standard two-car garage, professional epoxy floor coating in DFW ranges from $1,200–$5,500+ depending on the coating system and prep method. Budget installs that skip MVB primer and diamond grinding fail faster. Our packages with diamond grinding, MVB primer, and polyaspartic topcoat run in the $2,500–$5,000 range and last 15–20+ years. How long does installation take?
Most two-car garages take 1–2 days. Day 1 is prep: diamond grinding, crack repair, and primer. Day 2 is coating: base coat and topcoat(s). The Flagship package with two polyaspartic topcoats may require an additional cure window. We'll give you a specific timeline when we assess your slab.
Do I need to move everything out of my garage?
Yes — the garage needs to be completely clear of vehicles, storage, and anything on the floor before we arrive. Wall-mounted items and ceiling storage can stay. We'll let you know exactly what to prepare when we schedule your install.
What about cracks in my concrete?
Minor cracks are normal and are filled during the prep phase using flexible polyurea crack filler, which bonds to the concrete and flexes with it through temperature changes. Very large or structural cracks may need assessment before coating. We'll evaluate your slab during the quote and be upfront about what we find.
Will the floor be slippery when wet?
Our topcoat includes anti-slip aggregate, which gives the surface texture and grip even when wet. The finished floor is safe for foot traffic, pets, and vehicles in normal conditions. If you want extra grip — for a workshop or area that gets frequently wet — we can adjust the aggregate level.
Do you subcontract your work?
No. Every job is done by our own crew — the same people who answer the phone and give you a quote are the ones grinding and coating your floor. We don't use subcontractors because we can't guarantee quality we don't control.
What areas do you serve?
We serve the entire DFW Metroplex and surrounding areas including Denton, Collin, Dallas, Tarrant, Parker, Johnson, Ellis, and Rockwall counties, as well as areas extending toward Waco, Killeen, Longview, and Paris TX. Call us at 817-818-6925 if you're not sure whether we cover your area.
What is your warranty?
We stand behind our work. If you experience adhesion failure or delamination due to our installation, we'll make it right. Specific warranty terms are provided in writing before your install. Normal wear, damage from improper use, or issues caused by pre-existing slab conditions that were disclosed are handled case by case.
What's the difference between your three packages?
All three start with diamond grinding and crack repair. The Base adds an epoxy base coat and one polyaspartic topcoat — a solid entry-level system. The Pro adds MVB primer and a polyurea base coat before the polyaspartic topcoat, significantly improving moisture resistance. The Flagship is the full system: MVB primer, polyaspartic base coat, and two polyaspartic topcoats for maximum protection and gloss. Full package comparison →
